News and Notes

The NCFMR produces and electronically distributes a monthly newsletter, News and Notes, to keep you informed about current Center activities. We also announce funding and research opportunities, provide registration information for symposiums, conferences, and workshops, and keep you up to date on current research findings.

The NCFMR offers numerous funding opportunities to scholars, researchers, faculty, post doctorates, and advanced graduate students.

 

Grants, Assistantships, and Fellowships Awarded

Internal Grants
The NCFMR is pleased to announce the awards for our 2009 BGSU Small Grants competition. The Small Grants competition is designed to encourage research by BGSU faculty that involves collaborations with either (1) junior faculty, postdoctoral fellows, or advanced graduate students; (2) marriage or family scholars at other institutions; or (3) practitioners or policymakers.

External Grants
The NCFMR is pleased to announce the awards for our 2009 Families and Financial Instability External Grants competition. The funded proposals employ innovative methodological approaches, new measurement development, or novel conceptual frameworks, supporting research on families and financial instability.

Graduate Research Assistantships

The NCFMR is pleased to support graduate research assistants throughout each academic year and during the summers.

 

Postdoctoral Fellowships

The NCFMR is pleased to welcome Dr. Sarah Halpern-Meekin as a Postdoctoral Fellow for the 2009-2010 academic year. The fellowship is designed to provide an opportunity for an outstanding young scholar to perform research and receive training in residence at the NCFMR.

 

Dr. Michael Roettger, 2008-2009 Fellow, extended his tenure for an additional year.

 

Pilot Data Collection, 2009

The NCFMR is pleased to announce the awardees of the Pilot Data Collection, 2009 grant. The funded projects address innovative measures concerning family responses to financial strain.
